Active Drug Information

The active chemical in Fildena CT is sildenafil citrate, an FDA approved erectile dysfunction drug, which belongs to the family of drugs called PDE5 (phosphodiesterase-5) inhibitors. Other drugs that also belong to the same family of drugs include tadalafil, vardenafil, and avanafil. Sildenafil was originally recommended for the treatment of pulmonary hypertension (PH) in adults, which is high blood pressure in the lungs. However, clinical trials found that it helps men to achieve a strong erection.

Mechanism of Action

Fildena CT, as a generic sildenafil drug, works as a selective PDE5 antagonist, which means it stops the secretion of an enzyme known as PDE5 (phosphodiesterase). This mechanism of sildenafil allows the body to stop degrading a chemical known as cyclic Guanosine Monophosphate (cGMP). With this enzyme-chemical interaction, your body releases a substance called nitric oxide when you are sexually stimulated.

Nitric oxide relaxes and dilates the arteries in your body, including the sexual organ. This helps the blood to flow into the spongy erectile tissues during sexual arousal. This action mechanism of Fildena CT helps you to achieve and sustain a hard and long-lasting erection. Remember, the drug will not cause a prompt erection; you still need to be sexually aroused for sildenafil to act, which is why it has to be taken half an hour before sexual activity.

Dosing Instructions

• You should take Fildena CT half an hour before intending to make love and it is important to remember that sexual stimulation is needed for the drug to work.
• Chew and swallow the whole tablet. Do not crush or break the tablet because doing so may affect the drug’s efficacy.
• Sildenafil is known to act much better on an empty stomach so the drug may not act at its fullest if you take it with a heavy or fatty meal.
• For the desired results, refrain from alcohol, grapefruits, illegal drugs, and fatty foods while taking this ED drug.

• Erythromycin or clarithromycin for bacterial infections
• Itraconazole or ketoconazole for fungal infections
• Other PDE5 inhibitors such as tadalafil, vardenafil or avanafil

Contraindications

Men with the following medical issues must avoid taking Fildena CT tablets:

• Blood cancer such as sickle cell anemia or leukemia
• Eye disorders
